Avon Youth Lacrosse – Scheduling, Emailing, and Posting on Team Pages

2018 Season

 

Entering your Practice and Game Schedules

  1. Schedule all practices, tournaments, league/non-league games, and other events (league games…see below)  into the AYL website (www.avonyouthlax.org)

    1. Enter the web site Log In with your username and password

    2. Go to the “Teams” tab along the top of the page and find your team

    3. Once you are at your team’s page, select “Schedule” from the left hand menu bar

    4. Go to the “Options” dropdown on the right-hand side of the page and select “+ event”

    5. At this point you should see several dropdown fields which will allow you to enter all necessary information.  The only issue I had was when trying to select your opponent, you need to do so through the “outside opponent” dropdown, as that is what’s currently listing all of our opponents

    6. You can select all notification boxes if/when you submit changes.  This will allow for everyone to be made aware of any scheduling edits once they are made.  This is less important now, but will become more relevant for in-season changes you make.

    7. Hit the “Submit” button and repeat the process for all practices, games, scrimmages, events, etc.

    8. Each time you submit an event, you should be brought back to your team’s scheduling page, where you will see the events you are entering populate the page in order.  You can edit any event you need to.  The page will save automatically as you add/update your events.

    9. Log out…done deal.

 

  1. Schedule all HOME league games into the CVYL website (www.cvyl.org)  **BOYS ONLY (Bantams, Jrs, Srs)

    1. To log in…enter your first and last name, then the password (cvyl2015)

    2. CVYL has posted easy to follow instructions at the bottom of the page (link is below).

  1. If you are not sure, follow the steps above for entering on our website…same process.

  2. CVYL will populate our schedules as each team in our respective leagues enters their scheduling information (Basically, as other teams enter their HOME games, those show up on our schedules as AWAY games).

 

Emailing Your Teams

  1. Email parents and players of your team

    1. Enter the website Log In with your username and password.

    2. Go to the “Teams” tab and select your team.

    3. Select the “Roster” tab from the left-hand side menu.

    4. Once your roster populates, select the “options” drop down menu and then select “email team.”

    5. A page will populate that allows you to add a subject, cc additional people, and finally a space to compose your message.

    6. Hit send and you are done.



 

Posting Announcements and Messages to the Team Home Page

  1. Post information that will be seen when parents and players enter the team site

    1. Enter the website Log In with your username and password.

    2. Go to the “Teams” tab and select your team.

    3. You should see three tabs appear in the right-hand corner of your team’s page.

    4. The green tab allows you to add new pages, the yellow tab allows you to edit existing pages, the red tab allows you to delete pages.

    5. What has worked best for me is to create an initial welcome page (green tab), then simply edit that page whenever you want to update it with new information for your teams (yellow tab).

    6. You can also choose an expiration date for your posts, which will automatically remove the page on the date selected.

    7. You can then add the title for your page, which will depend on the message and/or info you are posting.

    8. You can add images by selecting the “Browse” button next to the “Featured Image” label.

    9. Compose your message and/or announcement in the provided field.

    10. You have the option to select a team (or teams) to receive an alert of the new post (via email or text, depending on what each team member has chosen when they registered).  You will need to check the “Broadcast Message” box to initiate the alert to your team.

**IT IS OUR HOPE THAT YOU WILL USE THIS FEATURE TO PROVIDE WEEKLY UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT YOUR TEAM.  I HAVE USED IT IN THE PAST TO COMMENT ON THE PREVIOUS WEEK’S RESULTS AND PLAYER PROGRESS, AND TO UPDATE THE TEAM AS TO WHAT THE WEEK AHEAD LOOKS LIKE.

**IT IS ALSO HELPFUL TO SEND YOUR TEAMS AN EMAIL WITH THE LINK TO THE TEAM PAGE PASTED INTO THE BODY OF YOUR EMAIL.  THIS ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO GO TO YOUR TEAM HOMEPAGE VIA THE WEBSITE, WHICH IN TURN, INCREASES OUR TRAFFIC AND ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE OTHER INFORMATION WITHIN THE AYL WEBSITE.
